Stolen Car

A car owned by a resident of the 600 block of Third Street was stolen on Sunday morning around 5 am.  The car was parked in the NW parking lot. Ring doorbell camera video captured the theft.  A police report has been filed.

Attempted Illegal Entry

A resident in the 200 block of G Street, SW, observed an individual attempting to enter the rear of his unit at 6:20 pm.  The resident called 911.  The individual fled the scene carrying an Amazon package.

Bicycle Theft

An unlocked bicycle was stolen from the enclosed rear patio of a unit in the 100 block of G Street, SW.  The theft occurred around 12:30 am.

Suspicious Behavior

A resident of CPIV observed 3 young males attempting to open the doors of cars parked in the 200 block of G Street, SW.  The incident was reported to the police.

Illegal Entry

A man was seen checking gates and doors around the CPIV property.  At approximately 6:45 pm, this same man entered a house in the 600 block of Third Street, SW, through an unlocked back door while the residents were unloading groceries.  He was confronted by the residents and left via the front door.

A motorcycle parked in the unit block of G Street, SW was damaged in an attempted theft.

Burglary

A unit in the 200 block of G Street, SW was burglarized between 12:30-1:30 pm.  The unit was entered through an unlocked rear sliding glass patio door.  Multiple items were stolen.  Police responded.

A package was stolen from the front door of a unit in the 800 block of Delaware Avenue, SW around 3:15 pm.  The theft was captured by the owner's doorbell camera.  The police have been notified.

Stolen Packages

An Amazon delivery person had an entire bin of packages stolen from the 200 block of G Street, SW.  MPD is investigating the theft as there was a report that the suspect may have been armed.

An electric bicycle was stolen from a resident in the 200 block of G Street, SW. The bicycle was stolen around 11am from the front of the unit.  The police have been notified.

A package was stolen from a resident in the 100 block of G Street, SW.  The person was caught on camera and was the same individual who stole a package from the same house on 10/6/2023.

Assault/Stolen Car

At 10:55 pm, Friday, Sept 29, 2023, a CPIV resident was assaulted and robbed by four or five young men/youth while getting out of his car on the unit block of G Street, SW.  The owner did not sustain any serious injuries.

  

The thieves stole the resident's car key and backpack then ran west toward the CPIV playground area. One thief doubled back shortly after and stole the resident's car. 

 

The owner had a tracking device in his car and he was able to retrieve his car within 6 hours from Delaware and M Street, SW.

A car parked in the Delaware Parking Lot, belonging to a resident living in the 100 block of G Street, SW was stolen.  The car was a Kia.

Attempted Break-in/Robbery

Around 10 am, several youths again attempted to enter a house in the 700 block of Delaware Avenue, SW in order to steal bicycles.  The youths climbed over the rear patio enclosure to gain access to the locked rear yard.  The attempt was captured on video and a police report has been filed.

Attempted Break-in/Robbery

Around 4 pm, two youths attempted to steal a bicycle from a resident in the 700 block of Delaware Avenue, SW.  They also attempted to enter the house through the front door.  The attempt was captured on video and a police report has been filed.

Bike Theft

Two bicycles belonging to the residents at 700 block of Delaware Ave were stolen at 11:45 am.  Two juveniles were seen with the bikes.  They were confronted and dumped the bikes which were recovered at 301 G Street, SW by the owner.  A police report was filed.

Car Illegal Entry

A car belonging to an owner in the unit block of G Street was broken into during the night.  The door lock was broken but the care was not able to be stolen as the owner had a wheel lock on his car.  The car is a Hyundai.  The owner called the police.

A four door Kia was discovered to have a broken vent window on the rear, passenger side. The car was parked in the NE lot.

Robbery and Assault

At approximately 9:30 pm, a CPIV resident was assaulted and robbed by two young males (approximately 18-19 years old) while parking and preparing to exit his car.  The incident occurred in the NE parking lot.  The resident suffered bruises to his head and face but was able to get away from his assailants.  The police were notified.

At 10:50 pm, two young men were seen running away from a motorcycle parked in the SE parking lot after the motorcycle's security alarm went off.

Theft

A resident was robbed of a cellphone and wallet around 6 pm by 2 young boys while walking on G Street at the circle at Third Street.  A police report was filed.

Car Vandalism/Illegal Entry

A car belonging to a resident in the Unit Block of G Street had the 2 driver side windows broken sometime during the night.  The car, a grey Kia Optima was parked in the NE lot.

Suspicious Behavior

Residents living in the Unit block of G Street reported that 2 men on a motorcycle were scouting the SE parking lot at 9:30 pm.  One man went behind the resident's car to look under the cover of their motorcycle which the other appeared to being keeping a lookout.  The residents confronted the man, who was also urinating by their car.  He admitted he was jealous of their motorcycle.  Later that night (1:40 am on 3/27/2023) they saw a man examining the locks on their motorcycle.  When they went outside, he retreated to his vehicle and sat in his car. They called the police who arrived on the scene and questioned the man.  He then left the area.  Nothing was stolen.

Carjacking

A guest of a CPIV resident was carjacked at knifepoint in the 700 block of Third Street, SW.  The incident occurred near the passageway.  Police responded and a report was filed.

A car belonging to a resident in the Unit block of G Street, SW was stolen from their parking space at approximately 9:45 pm.  The car, a 2020 Hyundai Elantra, was stolen using a USB cable.  The police were notified.

A package was stolen from a house in the 200 block of G Street, SW during the night.  The package was stolen within an hour and a half of delivery.  The theft was captured on the owner's doorbell camera.

Assault

On Friday, December 23rd at approximately 4 pm, a CPIV resident was assaulted and a robbery attempt was made.  The incident occurred in front of 291 G Street, SW.  The assailant was a young woman, approximately 5'4" tall, wearing a dark hat and brown coat.  She fled east on G Street.  A police report was filed.

The car belonging to a resident of the 600 block of Third Street was stolen sometime during the night.  A police report was filed and the car was later recovered.

Robbery

A resident living in the 200 block of G Street was robbed at 12:10 pm in the area between the townhouses and the Freeway.  The attacker was carrying a gun and took off in a gold-colored car which was driven by a second individual.  The wallet and phone of the CPIV resident were stolen.  The police were notified and responded on site.

Two bicycles were reported stolen from the enclosed rear yard of a unit in the 200 block of G Street.  The bicycles were stolen sometime between Oct. 24 – 28th.

Overnight a tenant residing in the Unit Block of G Street reported that all four wheels were stolen from their car parked in the Northeast parking lot.

Overnight night, a car parked in the NE parking lot, was illegally entered.  There was no sign of forced entry nor damage to the car.  The car was rifled through and a bottle of wine was stolen.

Assault

On Saturday, September 17th around 6:00 pm on the 200 block of G Street, there was an assault of an owner who confronted someone parked in their parking space NW 73. The assailant punched the owner, knocking them to the ground, then sped off. A police report was filed.

Stolen Car

Around 5:30 pm a stolen car was discovered in the 800 block of 3rd Street.  The car was retrieved by the US Capitol Police.

Attempted Car Break-In

Around 10:30 am, a black SUV pulled into the parking lot by the playground and 2 individuals in ski masks attempted to break into a work truck belonging to a resident. The men were unsuccessful and quickly left the area after noticing that they were being observed by people in the neighborhood. Residents in the playground area called 911. Police responded.

Gunfire

A "DC Alert" sent to 1st Police District (PSA 101-108) confirmed that on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at approximately 10:52 pm, there was a "Shooting Investigation in the 100 block of G Street, SW." The alert instructed to "lookout for a black male wearing a grey hoodie armed with a handgun. DO NOT TAKE ACTION CALL 911 W/ EVENT # I20220115983.” No further updates regarding arrests.

Stolen Wheels

Overnight, a tenant residing in the 200 block of G Street reported that all four wheels were stolen from their Honda Sport vehicle. It is not known if a police report was filed.

Burglary Attempts

Several owners in the 200 block of G Street and 700 block of Delaware Ave reported a man approximately age 50 dressed in a white winter coat knocking on doors, trying doorknobs, and going through the trash. Police were called, but no one was arrested.

2/24/22

Burglary Attempt/Vandalism

Between midnight and 1 am, in the 200 block of G Street, at least two residents reported that a black man in his 50s wearing a white winter coat was trying the doorknobs of both doors of their tandem units.  Another resident found opened trash bags in the arcade near their unit, as if someone had been looking for food. Lastly, a resident in the 100 block of G Street reported someone repeatedly ringing their doorbell. The police were notified and doorbell camera footage was provided, but no arrests were made.

House Fire

In the 800 block of 3rd Street, a unit caught fire within CPIV. For safety, the unit has been boarded up as an investigation takes place to determine the cause of the fire. Out of respect for privacy, no information was provided about the condition of the resident who lived there.

Burglary Attempt

At approximately 3:00 am, an owner observed a man trying the doorknobs along the 700 block of Delaware Ave. The owner spoke to the man, who then began to travel towards G Street as he left. A police report was filed.

Stolen Packages

An owner in the 200 block of G Street reported that the contents of several packages were stolen and the boxes were left behind.  The contents were taken between 10 pm and midnight.
